Halloween Havoc Race
The Halloween Havoc is a race we started with one of our really close friends a few years ago out at Shady Oaks Speedway in Goliad. He is deceased now after a tragic wreck one night. They had a "Beat The Boss" race and he ended up flipping his car, being left in critical condition. He was left paralyzed from the accident. The new owners of the track keep up the tradition.
What we normally do on that night is have all of the races as normal, but the winners get a "Halloween Havoc Feature Winner" plaque. Last year, my Dad, (who happens to be an amazing driver) won the Feature race in the Hot Stock Truck Class. (his picture is shown below). The funny thing is, all of the truck class, is my family and very close friends. All of which are either brothers or like a brother.
Anyways, back to the Event.. At intermission, the majority of the race cars are brought out on the track with loads of candy. then when all clear, the kids are let out on the track to trick-or-treat. I mean really, they're kids and they were drug to a racetrack on Halloween.. it's the least we could do. (Pictured below are my parents during the trick or treating along with a few pictures taken around the track)
After the kids are done getting candy, they go back to their seats where they get all hyped up on sugar. Then the racing proceeds, ending with the feature races.
That's really all there is to it. but it's a blast when you get to be involved in all that goes on out there. hope you enjoyed the pictures!

Members of D.A.S. Racing
Okay, let me explain the name because i'm pretty sure you're curious to know what that means. My oldest brother owns a shop named Dennis' Auto Service. If you couldn't already tell, it's a mechanic shop. Well that's what everyone in our group races out of. They all work together on the cars and help each other out when we need it. It's awesome. So that's where the name Dennis Auto Service Racing comes from.
Now, onto the drivers..
In the Hot Stock Trucks, as I said before, they are all members of D.A.S. Racing
#27 is my Dad, J.J. He has been driving race cars for probably 30 years (not too sure though). So if you ever listen to anyone about racing, come to this man. Our living room entertainment center is full of trophies this man has won. He definitely knows what he is doing. This year he will have a different truck and my oldest brother, will be driving this orange one.
#21 is Heath. He's not my brother but might as well be.. he's been around forever and is close in this family. He's been racing a while and has one hell of a motor in here.
#29 is my brother Jason. They finished this truck in a week or 2. They got on the ball, put their heads together and got it done. He has raced a few years here and there but not nearly as long as you would think watching him drive.
#76 is Peanut. His real name is Justin. He's been racing for quite a while and lemme tell you, when he gets in this truck, he hauls ass. Watching him drive, will make you clench your butt cheeks. As hard as he goes into the turns, you would think he was about to spin out but he knows what he's doing so he get though it like a champ.
#26 is Ryan. He is the newest edition to our bunch of people. He bought the truck from one guy who sucked ass when it came to driving. I dunno if it was the motor, or if he just didn't know what he was doing.. but the last time i saw Ryan in the truck was the first time he drove it and he did alot better than i was expecting.

Pure Stock
Last but definitely not least in the pure stock cars we have. We only have 2 people racing in this class but it keeps us on our toes. A lot of people in this class don't know how to drive.. they are all over the place. That is how my mom's car got so beat up.
#72 is my Mom, Brenda. She has raced before, she had the same kind of car but it was orange and had rebel flag numbers.. it was amazing. In that car, she hauled ass and did phenomenal. This last year in her black car was not the best. The car had lots of things that needed to be upgraded and fixed to be competitive with the other cars but everyone didn't believe her until my dad got in the car. the things got fixed and she hadn't drove it cause my dad hogged it. I'm anxious to see how she does this year.
#74 is Travis, My brother in law. He started racing this last year and has improved so much in such a short amount of time. The car has gotten quite the pounding from other cars but looks don't affect the performance. I'm excited to see how he is gonna do this season since he knows what to expect in the pure stock class.

South Texas Speedway
Boy was this last weekend a fail...
My family decided to head down to corpus to South Texas Speedway for the last race of the season. For the class my dad, and my brother n law were in, it was 2,000 to win but first you had to make it through the qualifying races... they had me soooo nervous! BUT after all the wrecks and stupid drivers they had to deal with, they qualified. They went onto the big race and all hell broke loose... On the first lap, my dad was trying to avoid a wreck in front of him and ended up rolling the tire off the rim. So, as expected, he had to sit in the infield. Then I notice that other cars who had tire problems were going off the track to get them fixed... why didn't my dad? Well since the rest of the family was watching my brother in law in the race, they weren't gonna help my dad. Yes, I know, kinda messed up huh? Anyways, Travis (bro in law) got a flat from a 16 yr old driver who got squirrely and hit the front of his car. His tire popped off the rim and she went head on into the wall... well he went off the track and got help with the tire.
Okay cool, one person in our crew would still be in the race... IF HE COULD GET BACK ON THE TRACK!! The people from the girls crew came over to where we were, stood in front of the race car and said that he was done, was not gonna go back on the track, that he was the reason she wrecked and that we needed to pack our shit up and leave. No, he did not cause the wreck, she needs to learn how to drive, and deal with wrecks if she wants to play with the big boys.. but that's just me. Well, my family didn't want to fight or have any trouble so they packed up their stuff, loaded up the cars and left the track.
I'm sorry but if they were standing in front of me, who just happened to be in a car, I'd start driving.. if they got ran over, it would be their own damn fault for standing there. Needless to say, we didn't win the race but it was a good time. We saw some cars flip, some caught fire and some just couldn't drive. It was an overall good weekend I guess. The link to watch the big wreck is below.
Have a wonderful day! Drive safe!
